I truly believe that living in a condo is convenient, fun, and it’s a long term investment, but definitely right now I am not a condo girl. I was raised in Cali, Colombia, and grew up with large homes. We also had second homes called haciendas, which are rural farms in the mountains with horses, goats, and chickens. That’s where I spent most of my childhood vacations. However, after living for 12 years in Miami, Florida, I do miss the beautiful condos that I sold overlooking the white sand beaches. It was convenient having maintenance handled by a group of people hired by the homeowner’s association. Water, sewer, garbage collection and insurance on the building were included in the association dues. There were no worries about maintaining the roof, the electrical system, the plumbing, the yard, and other general maintenance. You could leave and go on a vacation trip knowing the lawn would be mowed. And then there are all the amenities that a condominium offers: pool, sauna, spa, golf courses. I admit that the condo lifestyle can really simplify your life. But on the other hand, it can have some disadvantage to think about, such as limited parking spaces, the special assessments to cover unexpected repairs, the association rules, the association fees, etc. If you have decide that you want to join the condo lifestyle group, Tucson has a grand variety of condo communities to explore.
