South / Southeast Tucson Neighborhoods
South
If you ask any number of Tucsonans to define "South side of Tucson," they will answer that it is widely known for its many Mexican restaurants and architectural styles that include bright outdoor murals (many of which have been painted over at the request of city police). The area's Mexican character is expressed through an ecletic variety of folkcraft business (iron-smiths, tinsmiths, mural artists) and their contemporary counterparts (meat shops, bakeries, tortillerias, and produce vendors). Driving through the residential neighborhoods reveals a deeply religious population that displays its conviction publicly in a defined Spanish Tradition. On the south side, you will find the International Airport, Davis Monthan Air Force Base, and Tucson Electric Park (southwest of Aviation Highway).
Southeast
Rita Ranch: A master-planned community located in the southeast of Tucson with moderately priced homes, and with a mix of contemporary homes and some southwestern styles. You will find Rita Ranch within convenient distance of Davis Monthan Air Force Base and several of the major employers on the south side of town, such as Raytheon, AOL, Intuit and others. It is also close to the University of Arizona Science and Technology Park and is within the Vail School District. Search for Homes in Rita Ranch |
